X - Synthesis

Students, and their learning expertise and experiences, are at the very heart of what Republic Polytechnic is about. The avenues in which students learn are increasingly diverse and extend far beyond the confines of the classroom to encompass all facets of a student’s life on campus and beyond. Clubs and Interest Groups are key avenues for students to learn while at the same time, pursuing their passions, as well as enriching their campus lives and building bonds.

X-Synthesis is a student club set up under the auspices of the Centre for Educational Development by students, for students, with the aim of getting students excited about Problem Based Learning and to explore its application on a wider basis. With typically youthful energy and creativity, they are walking testimonies and student “ambassadors” of PBL, ever ready to field share their passion and experiences with external visitors and fellow students.

X-Synthesis members attend RP’s PBL Foundation Program along with new academic staff to enhance their understanding and appreciation of PBL facilitation in RP. Since its inception, X-Synthesis has channeled its expertise toward a diverse range of activities, workshops and projects. Through these, it is sought to have students develop practical skills on project management, such as time management, budgeting, risk management and event co-ordination. Some of the highlights are as follows:
