Introduction to Faculty Development
The professional training and academic development of
faculty is a priority at Republic Polytechnic. Various
programmes are designed to help all our teaching staff
understand and effectively apply principles of Problem-based
Learning.
The centre oversees two main programmes - the PBL
Foundation and Development courses. Through these in-house
workshops, our staff will continually develop their
facilitation and problem-crafting skills. At the same time,
external experts in curriculum design, pedagogy and
discipline-specific fields are also invited on a regular
basis to share their ideas with our staff.
An ongoing certification programme is another way to
maintain quality standards in facilitation and
problem-crafting. Staff members are invited to prepare a
teaching or curriculum portfolio to showcase their
achievements and milestones.

The best teacher is one who is also always learning and
sharing.
